just a few chords give you trouble. Especially newer players.
BUT NOT ONLY NEW PLAYERS HAVE PROBLEMS CHANGING TO SOME CHORDS!
This series of workshops is going to change your life! And for the better!
Because I'm going to eliminate that problem for you . . .
Assuming you WANT to eliminate it, and are WILLING TO WORK THE WORKSHOP!
The 1st time you work through this workshop, it'll take longer to get through
because you're reading, and learning "the routine". The 2nd time through, you
can just click the link at the very TOP of this page! It'll jump you right
to the Learn'em tracks! THEN . . .
NOTE: Once you go through this entire workshop and "get it",
you can go directly to the DRILLS PAGE and skip ALL of the text!
But go through it a few times FIRST! Then BOOKMARK the DRILLS page!
Go to Tracks Only DRILLS page
There are no instrunctions or guides on the DRILLS page!
So, THIS time through will take a while! But it'll be worth it! Trust me!
ALSO . . . for those who work through this entire workshop . . . There is a
SPECIAL BONUS! And it'll literally propel you to the next level!
OK, let's go!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Learn'em Tracks
Learn'em tracks first. They are very slow! This is to develop accuracy,
while you're developing muscle memory.
The DRILLS tracks are cool! Each track starts at a slow tempo, and plays a
pattern, a note phrase, or a chord pattern. Then it repats the pattern several
times, each repeat increases in tempo. And is a workout!
improve in a pretty short amount of time! It all depends on YOU! If you DO IT!
If you put in the time, and do each section as instructed, you will see
noticeable improvement within DAYS! Not months - not years!
And . . . DO THEM IN ORDER!
We're concentrating on 2 chords in this workshop that give players the
biggest problems. Open B7 and 4 string F. Once you get through this
workshop, you won't have trouble playing either one again! Trust me on this!
After the 1st few exercises, it'll get easier. They're all done the same
way, basically. And there will be less text instructions. Stick with me!
while improving your playing skills, and start playing Open B7 with ease!
Here's a chord I'm pretty sure you never hear of, let alone played! It's
called an E 6 9. E6/9 - Or, E six nine. And it looks like this . . .
So, why learn it now? I mean. you want to play B7 better, not learn a
new chord! Right!?! - Wrong!
Look at the two chords side by side. Notice anything?
You know how you can go from E to Am (open) just by bringing your fingers
up to the next set of strings? Well, almost exactly the same here! Except
one finger stays put! You leave the 4th finger on the 2nd fret of the 1st
string, and move your other 3 fingers, AT THE SAME TIME, up a set of strings!
BINGO! E6/9! And it's a cool sounding E chord! One you'll use a bunch,
now that you know it!
HOLD ON! I have a trick for you!
NAILED! SLOPPY and not in time! You struggle to get to the next chord in time.
The 2nd way is to have your chord changes down pat! Which is why you're here,
NOW! Because you WANT to be able to do that! Right!?! OK, well, here's the
3rd way to change chords! And it's going to IMMEDIATELY work for you! And you
will almost instantly start playing ALL of your songs better. Play ALL of your
chord progressions better! Check this out!
If you're playing in 4/4 time (four-four time - 4 beats to a measure) then
you're strumming a pattern and counting 1 2 3 4. And after you strum that 4
count, you rush - try to get to the next chord, and are usually late!
That always sounds BAD! Because the ONE count is the most important! Hitting
the chord on ONE is critical if you want to sound good! But guess what beat
is almost insignificant? FOUR! So you can strum 1 2 3, then start making your
chord change on the FOUR COUNT! And no one will even notice.
So instead of strumming 1 2 3 4 chord change 1 2 3 4, strum like this . . .
1 2 3 change 1 2 3 change! Don't strum on 4! Now you have a full count
to make your chord change! Once you have that particular chord down, you
can go back to 1 2 3 4.
BRILLIANT! RIGHT???
This is what the sound looks like in the strum pattern in the clip beloow . . .
So let's start this thing off with a fun Learn'em track, then a DRILLS track!
There is a 1234 count-in, Get your B7 in place, start the track below!
Just play B7 ''' B7 ''' E6/9 ''' E6/9 ''' % (% = "repeat")
Now YOU play along!
Here's how you work DRILLS tracks . . .
You play until you mess up. Then . . . STOP! Start the track over from
the beginning. Don't practice SLOPPY! When it gets too fast for you to play
ACCURATELY - STOP! Start over. You do this THREE TIMES! Each time you go
through the workshop, you'll get farther into each DRILL track.
If you're having trouble with a DRILL track and can't get beyond a couple
measures, GO BACK to the Learn'em Track! WORK it a few more times!
DO NOT practice ANY DRILL TRACKS faster than you can play accurately. Playing
sloppy and fast will add time to your learning curve!
So, you will do "part" of each DRILL track 3 times. In time, you'll get
through the whole tracl!
This is the same as the above track, except the tempo changes every other
iteration. OK, your turn!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SKIP THE INTRO TEXT.
Exercise 1
B7 LearnEm.MP3
Play each note as you place your fingers in place. This is an arpeggio.
So you put each finger down, one at a time, and play it. Then keep your
fingers in place so you can strum the chord once your fingers are in place.
LOOKS LIKE THIS . . .

SOUNDS LIKE THIS . . .
After playing the notes UP, take your hand off the strings, and "shoot"
your fingers out, as in, make a LIGHT fist, then stick your fingers straignt
out. Not HARD! Just lightly close your hand and quickly point your fingers
out. Do this every time you finish going UP, and DOWN!
You'll hear the 1st strum after you come back down. You strum, too! Then
there's another strum, and 4 snare drum hits, 1 2 3 4. You do the hand
thing during that 1 2 3 4 count.
4 snare hits = do the hand thing!
This exercise is played 2 ways. The track plays it with you! The 1st time
you play the notes, the "melody" will be: (FINGERS 1 2 3 4)
Finger 1, 4th string 1st fret, D#. Down to
Finger 2, 5th string 2nd fret, B. UP to
Finger 3, 3rd string 2nd fret A (the 7th)
2nd string open B
Finger 4, 1st string 2nd fret, F#
B7 = B D# F# A
THE 2ND TIME YOU PLAY THE NOTES LOW TO HIGH. FINGERS 2 1 3 4.
Cycle 1: Fingers 1 2 3 4. Play it back down.
Cycle 2: Fingers 2 1 3 4. Play it back down. Repeat!

Now we get to WORK! Not much talk, lots of playin'!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
smoothly. Then work on the next track! Not much text from here on out!
B7 LearnEm.MP3
This one's more fun!
B7 Arp 1 LearnEm.MP3
OK, now do this DRILL track. Listen to it first. You only go up! And it gets
fast! Play it until you mess up. Then start it over. Do it 3 or more times!
B7 Arp 1 DRILLS.MP3
OK, now let's play B7 ''' E ''' % Same way. 3 times!
B7 E DRILLS.MP3
DON'T FORGET . . . Shake your hand out on the 1 2 3 4 snare hits. And use
the 1 2 3 change when you need to!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now we'll do the same kind of Learn'em and DRILLS for F! THIS FORM . . .

Like I said . . . Not much "talking" from here on out!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And you will almost instantly know 24 new chords! 24!
F F# G
Play F 4 counts, then slide the F up ONE fret and play F# . . .
IT REPEATS F '''' F# ''' 3 times, then 1234 1234 - REMOVE YOUR
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Special Bonus!
Just what's in this workshop that you already are getting a handle on!
Buy learning a little "trick", you are about to pick up 24 new chords!
Well, actually, only 22. You learned 2 of them above!
When I teach my students the F chord, the 4 string form you used above,
I teach them, right from the beginning, to bar the top THREE strings, NOT
just the top 2! For 2 reasons!
Number 1 . . . It's easier! Using your finger, not just the TIP, gives you
more strength! It's easier to hold down the strings. And . . . No 2
Because you can easily make the MINOR chord for any of the chords you
make using the F form! As in, you can make an F minor, F# minor or
G minor by simply lifting off your 2nd finger!
One thing that's a lot of fun is moving up and down the fretboard. But
when you're first getting started, it's pretty hard to do because you
havent yet learned what to do up the neck! So . . .
We're going to play a really fun, and incredibly popular chord progression
that's used is 100s of songs! You might have played it already, but using
regular open chords, but it just doesn't sound the same!
Here are 3 simple progressions that will have you playing major and minor
chords all over the fretboard - in no time!
Let's take a look at changing the F major form into an F minor form! But
we're going to play the F form on the FIFTH FRET! That would be an A major!

Playing this on the 1st fret is an F minor. 2nd fret is an F# minor. Let's
work on F# minor first!
Make an F# using the F form as above. But this time, use your 1st finger
to play the top THREE strings. It'll feel weird for a little bit, but
once you get used to it, you'll never go back!
Strum the F# major chord, then lift off your 2nd finger, and strum again.
F# ''' F#m ''' F# ''' F#m ''' F# ''' F#m ''' F 1 2 3 4
COOL BEANS! OK, now lets play Am and G! Play the F form on fret FIVE. That's
an A major. Lift off your 2nd finger, Am! Then slide down to the THIRD fret.
That's a G. You already know that! So you play the F form as a minor on fret
5, then slide it down to G major on fret 3. Do that 3 times, then repeat!
Am ''' G ''' Am ''' G ''' Am ''' G ''' Am 1 2 3 4
And now, one of the coolest chord progressins ever! So many songs use this one!
Am G F E7
So, play the Am on 5, and G on 3 like you just did. Then slide down to F major.
Then play Open E7! (Or Open E)
Am ''' G ''' F ''' E7 '''

Way . . . To . . . Go . . . !!!
you learn anything you think you can use? Will it be fun? And one more
thing . . . Can you play B7 and F better than before you WORKED this?
If the answer is YES to any of these questions, then please do 2 things.
1). Drop me an email. Or PM me on Facebook. Let me know what results you got!
2). DO THIS ALL AGAIN! But this time, it's gonna be WAY easier and faster!
Because you can skip over most of the text! Next time you come back to the
workshop, click the link at the very top of the page!
It looks like this . . .
